AeroExpo UK is a dedicated General Aviation exhibition, showcasing the latest products and technology available in the field. Nick Coates is presenting a seminar on the ULTRaMo Engine at 14.25 on Friday, 25th June 2010 at Wycombe Air Park and we look forward to seeing you there. Visit www.expo.aero to register.
May 2010 Cleantech in Sussex, reported in The Argus
Sarah Lewis-Hammond, an award-winning environmental journalist and editor, and organiser of the Sussex Eco Awards, wrote a short article in The Argus on local Cleantech companies - a testiment to British innovation and demonstrating a strong presence in the South East of England, it appears we are in good company!
May 2010 ULTRaMo Engines win first prize for their presentation to the 3C's Community in London
As the ULTRaMo Engine project gathers pace, the ULTRaMo team were delighted to have the opportunity to present the concept and investment opportunities to the 3C's Community May meeting, hosted by Simmons & Simmons. Nick Coates, inventor of the ULTRaMo Engine, received an overwhelming response from the audience and was voted the top presentation of the evening. The 3Cs represents many of the ideals held by the ULTRaMo team, promoting collaboration and providing a wealth of Commitments, Connections and Capital.
March 2010 ULTRaMo Engines are presented to the BBGA Conference
For the very first time, ULTRaMo Engines was presented in a public arena provided by the BBGA Conference in St Albans. We were thrilled to receive an incredibly enthusiastic response from all those present and look forward to speaking with some of our new friends again soon. ULTRaMo will initially target applications requiring little or no modulation which could well include piston engined aircraft - we were lucky to meet several people who have already provided some extremely interesting and valuable insights into the industry.
December 2009 ULTRaMo are invited to submit a Research Grant for R&D application.
A recent proposal submitted to Finance South East for consideration has resulted in an invitation to submit a full application for a SEEDA (South East England Development Agency) Research Grant. The ULTRaMo team are thrilled to have been given this opportunity and have already started preparing the necessary supporting evidence.
November 2009 Freestreme Body Armour welcome Craig and Toby from Market Evolution to the team.
With Craig and Toby from Market Evolution joining the Freestreme Body Armour team, we are pushing forward with a fresh new strategy which includes production of full set of prototype body armour set, testing to provide evidence of impact protection and cooling function, as well as an updated Business Plan detailing market information on all sports suited to Freestreme. Market Evolution bring experience in consumer research, marketing, corporate development and sales as well as great enthusiasm for the product which received the best response they'd ever seen in a recent market research report.
October 2009 IR Eye receives investment & expertise.
IR Eye is a novel eye tracking/point of regard technology which could give rise to innovative solutions in a huge range of markets including: special needs assistive technology, marketing and website usability, hands free operation, visualisation, and security and defence. It opens up the possibility that we could interact with the next generation of IT and personal electronic equipment simply by looking at it. Our investors, Ian & Adam also bring a wealth of experience in the development and commercialisation of new products in the visual displays field and as the owners of 7thSense, considerable expertise in programming and display integration.
September 2009 NeQstep welcome Richard Atkins to the ULTRaMo team.
NeQstep are also pleased to welcome Richard Atkins to the ULTRaMo team - Richard brings 40 years experience in internal combustion engines, and has worked with most of the big names in the industry. Additionally, in collaboration with the Internal Combustion Engines Group at University of Brighton and Ricardo UK, an EPSRC application has been submitted to fund the development of software tools that can be used to evaluate the ULTRaMo cycle. This will enable strategies for component optimisation, waste heat utilisation, and component integration to be investigated.
August 2009 Load testing completed on first shipment of Hanging Basket Brackets.
Beautifully designed by MTS Design, the first shipment of Soul Silhouette Hanging Basket Brackets has arrived at NeQstep House. Manufactured by Mill Tu Fit using a precision laser cutting technique and finished in matt black polyester, these brackets turned out to be stronger than we expected. Having planned to load test to 20kg (being twice the weight of the average 18" hanging basket), we were suprised to find that even the daintiest design was able to support the weight of one metric Coates (our Technical Director). Work has already started on the marketing and distribution of these unusual brackets, so watch this space!
April 2009 Prototype cooling system tested at MIRA achieves great results.
Having worked in collaboration with London Southbank University on the design and development of an innovative cooling solution for underground trains, we are thrilled to report that, after nine weeks of testing at the renowned MIRA testing facility, the prototype has performed as predicted. The team of engineers on site for this period, (now extremely familiar with the Nuneaton area), have now started preparing the final report for the client, and look forward to taking this project forward into the next phase.
April 2009 Successful decommissioning and lab calibration of experimental data logging equipment
As part of a project focussing on the cooling of a tunnel network, in collaboration with London Southbank University, NeQstep designed, built and installated a test rig to evaluate the effect of the build up of a fouling layer on a heat transfer surface. Having met the stringent safety restrictions on the selection of materials and the tough EMC compliance, we were very excited to complete the decommissioning of the rig at the end of April 2009, and see exactly what had been happening over the last three months.
March 2009 NeQstep Collaboration awarded a SIRAC kick-start fund.
In collaboration with Dr Hussam Jouhara of Brunel University, Coolers & Condensers Limited, NeQstep are working on the development and exploitation of a novel technique using a heat pipe based heat exchanger which will allow the supply of a factory set primary refrigeration loop, reducing the inefficiencies often generated by the mis-matching of components and erroneous commissioning.
SIRAC (Sustainable Innovation in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) awarded us the SIRAC Kick-start Fund and the funding will be used to progress the development of a Preliminary Design for this product, early market analysis and preparation for further funding applications.
July 2008 NeQstep move to More House Business Centre in Haywards Heath.
In July 2008, NeQstep moved to More House Business Centre, on the outskirts of Haywards Heath, our proximity to Haywards Heath and Wivelsfield railway stations means we are within easy travelling distance of London and Brighton. Allowing the team to work more closely together, this move has already added to the continuing development of NeQstep, and with the new office and workshop set amidst the beautiful fields of mid Sussex, there is always a source of inspiration just outside the door.
